Beautiful Things
A Day in the Life Entry #2

There will be typos, weird punctuation, and grammar errors in this blog because I'm not policing myself as a write. If that drives you nuts, feel free to bounce ✌️
It's Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.
Today I'm sharing a piece I've written and re-written dozens of times over the past five years. It's tucked away in my notes apps so I can pull it out on days that I need it.
Today is one of those days.

Sometimes when “life” gets too heavy, I sit back and think of all the beautiful things around me:
- Sunlight filtering through the bright green leaves.
- Grass swaying in the breeze.
- The soft rustle of the wind rising and moving through the trees.
- Dark, fertile soil that breathes life into growing things.
- Rolling clouds that open up and pour warm, healing rain onto the earth.
- The color of people’s eyes - dark, deep brown - liquid amber - crystal clear blue - bright turquoise - piercing green - wild, shifting hazel.
- The warmth of my son’s hands on my skin, around my arms, on my cheek.
- People holding hands, fingers intertwined.
- Christmas lights
- Deep, bright white snow in the early hours of the day.
- A frozen lake that looks like the surface of the moon.
So many more I could list.
Then I breathe.
And smile.

It would be an honor to hear your list of beautiful things. If you feel comfortable, add it to the comments using the form below or email me and let me know 💕

Lake Baseball
Our friends had left the family cabin just a few hours earlier. The sky was perfect (it almost always is at the lake) - bright blue with "Simpsons" clouds drifting overhead.
It was just me and my 3 boys now. Calm. Peaceful. Quiet. (A rare occurrence.)
I'm sitting on our swing near the lake when they come bounding down the pier, baseball bat and whiffle ball in tow. And I get to watch as one of my favorite childhood memories comes to life right in front of my eyes.
